How quickly can I get a quote?
Most quotes are provided same-day, often in under 30 minutes for home and auto policies. We prioritize quick, accurate responses to get you covered fast. Simply call us at (916) 365-4988 or submit a quote request online.
Can I text your agency with questions?
Yes, you can text us with questions! We offer text support for quick inquiries and updates. Call our main number at (916) 365-4988 and our team will assist you via text or phone based on your preference.
What languages do you speak?
Our team is multilingual and can assist you in English and other languages. Please let us know your language preference when you contact us, and we'll ensure you receive service in your preferred language.
Why should I use an insurance agent instead of buying online?
An insurance agent provides personalized service, helps you understand complex policy terms, identifies coverage gaps, and advocates for you during claims. We compare multiple carriers to find you the best coverage at competitive rates, and we're here when you need us most.
Can I bundle my home and auto insurance for savings?
Absolutely! Bundling your home and auto policies typically provides significant discounts while simplifying your coverage management. Contact us for a personalized quote to see how much you can save.

Home Insurance Questions

What does homeowners insurance cover?
Homeowners insurance typically covers your dwelling (structure), other structures (garage, shed), personal property (belongings), loss of use (temporary housing), personal liability, and medical payments for guests. Coverage protects against perils like fire, theft, vandalism, and specific weather events.
Do you offer wildfire risk coverage?
Yes, we specialize in tailoring policies for Northern California's unique risks, including wildfire, earthquake, and flood coverage. We'll clearly explain all exclusions and ensure you understand your protection before signing up. Additional wildfire mitigation discounts may be available.
What's the difference between replacement cost and actual cash value?
Replacement cost coverage pays to replace your damaged property with new items of similar quality, without deducting for depreciation. Actual cash value (ACV) pays the depreciated value of the item at the time of loss. Replacement cost coverage typically provides better protection but costs slightly more.
If my tree falls on my neighbor's property, am I liable?
In most cases, if your tree falls due to a storm or natural event with no negligence on your part, your neighbor's insurance covers their damage. However, if the tree was dead, diseased, or poorly maintained and you were negligent, you may be held liable. Your homeowners liability coverage would then apply.
How much homeowners insurance do I need?
You need enough coverage to rebuild your home at current construction costs, replace your belongings, cover additional living expenses during repairs, and protect against liability claims. We use replacement cost estimators and review your property details to recommend appropriate coverage limits.
Does homeowners insurance cover flood damage?
No, standard homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage. You need a separate flood insurance policy, which we can help you obtain through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or private carriers. Even if you're not in a high-risk flood zone, flood insurance is often affordable and recommended.

Auto Insurance Questions

What auto insurance coverage is required in California?
California requires minimum liability coverage of 15/30/5 ($15,000 bodily injury per person, $30,000 per accident, $5,000 property damage). However, these minimums are often insufficient. We recommend higher limits to protect your assets, typically 100/300/100 or more.
When do I need to add my teenager as a driver?
You must add your teenager to your policy as soon as they receive their learner's permit or driver's license. Insurance companies have access to driver reports and will identify unlisted drivers. Adding them immediately ensures you're properly covered and avoids potential claim denials.
Does my auto insurance cover me when renting a car?
Your personal auto insurance may extend to rental cars, but coverage varies by carrier. Some policies have limitations on rental coverage. Additionally, your policy may not cover the rental company's charges for diminished value or lost rental income. We recommend checking your specific policy before declining rental car coverage.
If someone else drives my car, are they covered?
Generally, if someone drives your car with your permission, your auto insurance provides coverage up to your policy limits. However, some carriers limit liability coverage for guest drivers. The guest driver's insurance may also coordinate with yours. Always contact us before loaning your vehicle to understand your specific coverage.
What's the difference between comprehensive and collision coverage?
Collision coverage pays for damage to your vehicle from accidents with other vehicles or objects. Comprehensive coverage pays for damage from non-collision events like theft, vandalism, fire, hail, or hitting an animal. Both have separate deductibles and are optional if your car is paid off.
How can I lower my auto insurance premium?
You can lower premiums by bundling policies, maintaining a clean driving record, increasing deductibles, taking defensive driving courses, installing anti-theft devices, and asking about available discounts (good student, low mileage, safe driver, etc.). We'll review all available discounts during your quote.

Life Insurance Questions

Do I need life insurance if my employer provides it?
Employer-provided life insurance often has low coverage limits (typically 1-2 times your salary) and ends if you leave your job. Personal life insurance ensures continuous coverage regardless of employment changes and can be tailored to meet your family's actual financial needs for mortgage, education, and living expenses.
How much life insurance do I need?
Life insurance needs depend on your income, debts, dependents, and financial goals. A common guideline is 10-12 times your annual income, but this varies. We'll help you calculate coverage for mortgage payoff, children's education, final expenses, and income replacement for your family.
What's the difference between term and whole life insurance?
Term life insurance provides coverage for a specific period (10, 20, or 30 years) with lower premiums. Whole life insurance provides lifelong coverage, builds cash value, and has higher premiums. Term is ideal for temporary needs, while whole life offers permanent protection and investment features.
Can I have multiple life insurance policies?
Yes, you can have multiple life insurance policies from different carriers. Many people combine term and permanent policies to meet various financial goals. Ensure your total coverage aligns with your actual needs and financial obligations.

Claims Questions

How do I file a claim?
You can file claims 24/7 through the Allstate mobile app, online portal, or by calling us directly at (916) 365-4988. We'll guide you through the process, help document damages, and advocate for you with the insurance company. Report claims as soon as possible after an incident.
What happens after I file a claim?
After filing, a claims adjuster will be assigned to investigate and assess damages. They may inspect your property or vehicle, review documentation, and determine coverage. You'll receive a claim settlement offer, which you can accept or negotiate. We'll support you throughout the entire process.
Will filing a claim raise my rates?
Filing a claim may affect your rates depending on the type and severity of the claim, your claims history, and your carrier's policies. Not-at-fault claims and certain types of claims (like comprehensive auto claims for theft or weather) may have less impact. We can review your specific situation and claim forgiveness options.

Billing & Payment Questions

How can I pay my insurance bill?
You can pay your bill online through your carrier's website or mobile app, by phone, through automatic bank withdrawal (EFT), by mailing a check, or in person at our office. We also offer flexible payment plans including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual payments.
What is the grace period for paying my bill?
Most insurance policies have a grace period of 10-30 days after the due date, depending on the carrier and policy type. During this period, your coverage remains active. However, if payment isn't received by the end of the grace period, your policy may be cancelled. Contact us immediately if you're having trouble making a payment.
Are there fees for installment payments?
Yes, most carriers charge installment fees if you pay monthly or quarterly rather than paying in full annually. These fees typically range from $3-$10 per payment. Paying your premium in full upfront usually saves money and avoids installment fees.
How do I cancel my insurance policy?
Contact us directly to request cancellation. We'll need written notice and will process your request according to your policy terms. Depending on when you cancel and your payment method, you may receive a prorated refund for unused premiums. Never cancel existing coverage until new coverage is in place.
